These past 4 months have been insane. Opportunities, left and right. My internship at WFTV has just recently ended. I learned a lot from the experience. It was really crazy being in real life business meetings, working with clients and working events. I even got to be apart of a important training session that is required for most major entertainment companies. I have realized though, that my true passion still lies in music. Television was great, it really was. In the end it is just not for me. I don't have the drive and passion for it, to the extent I do, working in the music industry. It was good for me though, I learned a lot about sales & marketing, plus it is an amazing reference for my resume.
Last week I worked "Florida Music Festival" for the second year in a row. It was awesome seeing everyone that I worked with last year. This year instead of stage managing (which I loved) I did registration. It was really great being able to meet all the bands that were coming and signing in. Plus it got super hectic, it was nice to so this instead considering I got to see more bands play, instead of being stuck at one single venue the entire time. The industry panels had a lot of really important people speaking at them this year. I networked my butt off, I am now completely out of business cards, and got a lot of good contacts in return.
The one that I am most excited about is Melvin Benn, owner and creator of "Festival Republic". This company is the main company that puts on all the major festivals in Europe and is now currently bringing a festival to Orlando. The festival will be in the scale of ones here in the United States like Coachella and Bonnaro. Which is insanely huge for the Orlando music scene, it will be bringing in extremely big names and also be having around 70,000 music fans per day. Well, last week during FMF I got to speak to Melvin and Paul Lovett whom is also a big part of the festival. I got to have a meeting with him today, about how I wanted to contribute and work with the festival. It went REALLY well. I see good things coming from this in the near future. They are awesome people, and I am super excited about being apart of something this huge. All that I have been working for, I feel can finally pay off, and take me in the direction that I need.
I did miss going to class on campus, but now that I have returned, I realize that I have way too much on my plate right now, so I will be switching back online. I am a busy busy girl and am pushing myself for my dreams to become a reality. I am really hoping this opportunity with Orlando Calling goes somewhere. Until I know for sure, I am still meeting just the right people to further my career. It is crazy madness when you see things going great for you and everything you ever dreamed of.
